GAMM Student Chapter Science Slam 2025
10 October 2025
Already for the third year in a row, the GAMM Student Chapters from Bochum, Braunschweig, Hamburg and Hannover organized the Science Slam in Bochum. In total, 33 people attended this year's Science Slam, with nine presentations by the above-mentioned Student Chapters in three sessions in a more casual environment. Furthermore, there also was an additional contribution from a member of the University of Duisburg-Essen.
The Science Slam commenced with a joint lunch in the cafeteria of the Ruhr University Bochum. Then, the scientific part of the Science Slam started with an industry talk by Dr. Antonio Bräunche and Dr. Fabian Wagner, who discussed the influence of generative artificial intelligence in business, and their position as a consultant in an international company. Because of the plethora of questions that was asked by the audience, it was clear that the presentation was well-received.
After a first coffee break, the first Science Slam session had the general topic of optimization. Two out of the three talks were given by Student Chapter members from Hamburg. The second session, regarding FEM and its applications and challenges, further contained one presentation by a Hamburg student chapter member. The third and last session considered the topic of engineering and the presentations were given by members of the Ruhr University Bochum and the University of Duisburg-Essen. To close out the day, a local restaurant hosted a joint dinner after the sessions had ended.
The Student Chapter would like to acknowledge the financial support by the GAMM, which enabled the members of the Student Chapter to participate in this joint event. Additionally, we would like to thank the organizers, speakers and session chairs for being part of this event.
Initial Announcement:
Maybe you remember a special event from
previous years: The Science Slam! And even if you don't know about it, yet, there are exiting news for you: We are repeating it in 2025, only this time in Bochum!
So, first of all, a small reminder what this is about. The student chapters from Braunschweig, Bochum, Hannover and Hamburg organize a joint event to gather young researchers for a more informal exchange. So this is not an ordinary workshop. The idea is for you to open up discussions by giving entertaining talks about your research or a topic of your liking. Further, there will be a keynote talk from industry and a lot of time for chatting during breaks.
We will organise a joint travel from Hamburg to Bochum and back.
The most likely option is to take the train to Bochum on the day of the event, stay the night at a hotel and return on the following.
We will provide you with more precise information, when we get an idea of the number of people interested.
The goal is of course to cover the costs for everybody.
For more information and registration check our website for the event.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to contact us. We are looking forward to many registrations and an exciting and fun day in Hannover!
