My name is Henrik Wyschka and after taking over the IT duties last year, I will be the president for the upcoming term. Workwise, I do my PhD in the research training group 2583 at the UHH with Prof. Winnifried Wollner on shape optimization. In particular, I am interested in solutions to p-Laplace problems including source terms and their limits using FEM. This results in spending a lot of time doing my favorite work, coding. Nevertheless, I still have some connections to the TUHH, since I previously studied Industrial Mathematics south of the Elbe and did a lot of committee work during that time. Off work, I enjoy bouldering, swimming, biking or running with the foolish intention of training for a triathlon. Aside from that, I occasionally return to competitive gaming. |
| My name is Michael Koch and I am a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Sabine Le Borne since July 2023 and now also the new vice president of the student chapter. You can find me either in the RTG 2583 at UHH or in the mathematics department at TUHH. My PhD topic is about developing new preconditioners for the radial basis function finite difference method with the goal of speeding up the solution process for partial differential equations faster. Prior to this I was studying Industrial Mathematics at TUHH/UHH. Outside of the university I really enjoy bouldering. |

My name is Kemal Firdaus, and I am the new treasurer and secretary. I come from Indonesia, where I also earn my master’s degree. Currently, I am doing my PhD along with the RTG 2583 at UHH under the supervision of Prof. Jörn Behrens. My research focuses on modelling the dispersive waves while still being computationally efficient by developing an adaptive non-hydrostatic extension to shallow water equations. During my leisure, I like to watch movies, play badminton, or just stroll around the city. |

My name is Katharina Klioba and I am excited to organise cool events as this year's president of our GAMM & SIAM student chapter. In particular, I would like to strengthen the cooperation with chapters from other uniswith e.g. a joint Science Slam. Since 2020, I am a PhD student with Dr. habil. Christian Seifert at the analysis group at TUHH. In my PhD, I enjoy looking at approximation of PDEs and SPDEs from an abstract viewpoint to obtain convergence rates with the help of semigroup theory and more functional analysis. Before that, I studied Industrial Mathematics at both TUHH and UHH. During this time I went abroad to Pavia in Italy (research internship), Nice in France (exchange semester) and Delft in the Netherlands (PhD research project). If I am not busy doing maths, I like to learn languages or dance ballroom. |
| My name is Stephanie Blanke and I am a PhD student within the RTG 2583 "Modeling, Simulation and Optimization of Fluid Dynamic Applications", funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). I am located at UHH and under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christina Brandt I am dealing with magnetic particle imaging, a relatively new medical imaging technique allowing for the reconstruction of the spatial distribution of magnetic nanoparticles. I did my bachelor in mathematical physics at University of Würzburg (JMU) followed by a master in mathematics also in Würzburg. Until March 2023 I will be the vice president of the student chapter. I like being outside, go skating or walk around with my camera. |

My name is Ezra Rozier and I’m doing a PhD in the modelling group of the GrK 2583 in the UHH with Prof. Dr. Jörn Behrens. My PhD topic deals with refinement criteria for numerical methods for fluid dynamics. I studied maths and physics for 4 years in Paris (École polytechnique) and finished with one year of applied mathematics in Munich (TUM). I will be responsible for the finances of the chapter and will also organize Life in PhD talks and movie projections. Handball (to be freed from frustration) and cooking (to meditate) help me to relax from my PhD. |
| My name is Julio Urizarna. As you may guess from my name, I come from northern Spain, although it is been a while since I last lived there. I currently do my PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Daniel Ruprecht in the group of Computational Mathematics of the TUHH. My research topic is the study of the Maxey-Riley equation, which is an equation used to study the motion of inertial particles in a fluid. I studied Civil Engineering in Spain and after working abroad in the private industry for a few years, I decided to do a master in mathematics and try my chance in a different field. After the master, I came to Hamburg, where the love of my life was studying and got a PhD position where I am now. As the chapter secretary, I will take care of signing up new members and organising some visits to private companies. |

In particular, I am interested in solutions to p-Laplace problems and their limits using FEM, which results in spending a lot of time doing my favorite thing, coding. Further, I still have some connections to the TUHH, since I previously studied Industrial Mathematics over there and did a lot of committee work during that time. Off work, I have recently discovered the fun of bouldering and swimming or just procrastinate while gaming. |
