It was finally time for the Science Slam in Hamburg!
For the fourth edition of the Science Slam, it was our turn to host, and we invited the chapters from Bochum, Braunschweig and Hannover to join us for this joint event.
After lunch together at the Mensa, we were energized and enthusiastic to get started.
We were happy to open the scientific part with a talk by an Airbus employee. He covered many topics that were particularly interesting for us as mathematicians and engineers, ranging from technical aspects and sustainable aviation fuels to Airbus as an employer. The talk was very well received.
Then it was time for the core of the event: the slams. Participation was high, with 13 slams in total, 5 of them by Hamburg chapter members. Most talks presented the speakers’ own research, and it was clear that the presenters enjoyed preparing their topics in a fun way just as much as the audience enjoyed the engaging, easy-to-follow talks.
In between, there was time to chat and connect over coffee and cake. To round off the day, we went for dinner at a nearby restaurant.
It was a pleasure to host the event, and we’re already looking forward to the next edition in 2027!
The Student Chapter would like to acknowledge the financial support by the GAMM, which enabled the members of the Student Chapter to host this joint event. Additionally, we would like to thank the organizers, speakers and session chairs for being part of this event.
