The Heidelberg Student Chapter of SIAM cordially invites you to its upcoming online Industrial Talk, so save the date!
When: November 18, 2020, 4 pm s.t.
Where: https://audimax.heiconf.uni-heidelberg.de/mtwg-36tf-ncgj-v9ug
Speaker: Dr. Jesko Hüttenhain (CrowdStrike)
Title: Hacking the Hackers
Abstract: The talk will give you an impression of what it means to work as a malware reverse engineer in the field of cyber threat intelligence, in order to help you decide whether you deem it an attractive career path and what would be required to pursue it. To this end, I will talk about two ransomware related cases that I recently worked on, and be as concrete as possible about what I did during analysis. The cases both exemplify application of static binary reverse engineering, which is arguably one of the most potent tools to generate intelligence about digital threats.
Feel free to spread the word. We are looking forward to seeing you there virtually!
